Status and function:
The teaching content is Unit 2 Module1 for the first term Grade 7 students, which is published by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press. This unit is mainly talked about the three students’ self-introductions , which is about their names, ages, hometown ,their friends and so on. By learning this unit, students must know that these self-introductions are made to make new friends, so it’s crucial for them to understand the aim of the passage. Morever, “First name” and “Last name” are referred to in Tony’s self-introduction and so does it in Around the world. Therefore, you can integrate into the two parts of the material.
This unit plays a great part in Module 1. The topic of self-introduction is further expanded and developed on the basis of Unit1. It’s helpful to improve students’ reading and speaking ability, and it will provide a good preparation for the following writing task of this module. Reading belongs to input during the process of learning English but speaking belongs to output in it. Therefore, if students can learn this unit well, it will be of great help for the rest of the module.
